Winthrop Added Value MX MXJ XF PT RN, "Bonus"

OFA Hips-Excellent

When the pups were 8 weeks old, Sue Klar came planning to take the Red girl home, but was ecstatic to find that the rough coated Pink girl was still available!   Sue could not pass on Pink's sweet, furry face, and named her Winthrop Added Value, call name "Bonus."  Bonus has already started a puppy training class and is doing very well according to Sue, even though she is the youngest in the class!  Career plans for Bonus include agility and herding, and maybe some obedience and rally!

Bonus at 6 months, December 2007:  Sue Klar has decided that the eighth puppy, Bonus, "really is turning into a nice dog!"  (I knew she was all the time...)   Sue says, "She does five or six cool tricks and she is doing well on her contacts and tunnels and flat work.  Her stays are really getting good and she does a really quick down on the table.  She's started weave pole entries and I'm really pleased with that.  She still loves everyone and never met a stranger.  We saw Claudia at the agility trial this weekend and she said Jaydee does the same thing Bonus does (leaps on people and puts their front paws around them and hugs them).  She is really pretty and getting a really nice coat.  Ears are still being glued.  I'm going to glue hers until 9 months unless she shows some sign that they're bothering her.  These photos are of Bonus at 4 months old."  She weighs 25.5 pounds and measures 18" tall.

Bonus at 1 year old

She now measures 19.5" tall and weighs about 32 pounds.  Claudia worked her on sheep seriously for the first time (she got to play with them at Linda Gray's once before).   According to Claudia, she did everything you'd want a dog to do at her first lesson.                                Bonus1yr

May 2009 Bonus has had several herding lessons with Marc Christopher and is doing very well!!  She continues to train in agility and is entered in another trial next month.

June 2009--NAJ! Bonus got her official two-year measurement from two judges at the trial (20.25 inches) and weighed 35 pounds at the vet's today, where she got her hips X-rayed for OFA--they came back OFA Excellent!  Now she is off to train at Denise Teal's in herding.

September 2009 Bonus now has her AKC Novice Agility, Novice Agility Jumpers, Novice Fast, and just completed her Pretrial Tested title in herding! Denise Teal is training/handling her in herding and is pleased with her progress. Sue says she is very happy with her in agility, that "she knows the human is in charge in agility!" She is also learning the Open exercises in obedience, including retrieving and the drop on recall.

Bonus competes with a couple of different handlers

April 2010 Thought I'd update everyone on Bonus. She finished her AX and her AXJ titles two weeks ago. Linda Mecklenburg (world famous agility handler and trainer) saw her and liked her. I was really pleased. She said she thought she could jump either 24" or 20" without any problem so I guess we're going to keep her at 24" for a while longer. In two weeks, she is entered in her first AKC rally trial. She's been practicing really well. We're also entered the following week, so I hope she can complete her Novice Title.
