Winthrop Mace
May 23, 2010--8 1/2 weeks old We just thought you would like to know that Mace seems to be really comfortable. He was a little upset in the car ride, but settled down after about ten minutes. He has eaten twice (like a little piggy), taken a bath (lukewarm to that idea), taken a couple of naps, and met a handful of strange and big new adult dogs (caution quickly melting into friendliness). He is pretty courageous. All in all, he seems to be enjoying all of the strange new sights and sounds. He is an explorer, for sure. Here are some pictures we thought you might enjoy. We really feel blessed to have him in our family.

Mace is wicked smart and cute as a button. You would have a very hard time convincing our family that we did not get the pick of the litter. We love him so much.
Here's Mace with his "nephew" and buddy Scout, my adult son's Aussie:

June 29, 2010--14 weeks old Doug brought Mace and the whole family to watch Myrrh's herding lesson, then I took Mace in with 3 quiet sheep in about a 100' x 100' pen. It took him a little while to actually notice the sheep, but once he did, he went right into a working crouch and had a grand time driving them around the pen! He has a curly tail up over his back just like Uncle Hutch, but just like Hutch, when out working the sheep, it came right down with a swoop on the end! He is quite the serious little worker. When he rushed the sheep and one split off, you could tell he was thinking, "Well, that's just not right..." and he put them back together himself a couple of times!
March 26, 2011--1 year old! We had a Puppy Birthday Party at Terry Parrish's sheep ranch, and Mace had a blast, brought his whole family including "Mom" Melissa.

Terry worked with him out in the small pen herding, and it wasn't too long until he got owner Doug out there, too! Here he is starting out with Terry:
