October 2010 earned all 3 legs for the Herding Excellent A course-ducks title at the BCSA National Specialty! Finished her Herding Excellent A course-sheep title in November 2010, and earned her first 4 Herding Championship points with wins both days in the Advanced runs on geese!

Myrrh is my first excellent/elite level dog in agility, herding and obedience, and has greatly challenged me to become a better handler in herding and all of the other events!  She is second generation Winthrop breeding, out my Belle and Lyle Lad's outstanding herding dog Cap.

At Franklin, TN, January 2006, Myrrh Q'd in obedience 7 of 8 runs, earning CDX legs 1, 2 & 3 for her CDX title, Rally Advanced legs 1, 2, & 3 for her RA title, and Rally Excellent leg 1!!!  It was quite a weekend!

At the BCSA National Specialty October 2006, she won Excellent B Rally to finish that title!

Spring 2007 In April of 2007, Myrrh was bred to JusDandy Jaydee, and had 8 beautiful puppies June 11, 2007. Here she is with "that pregnant look..."  Needless to say, our trialing was put on hold from April through September 2007.

The very next weekend it was off to an AKC herding trial, where she finished her HSAs title with a win and High in Trial!  I moved her up to Intermediate the second day of the trial, and she showed she can handle driving the sheep with a score of 90.5 and second place in her class!

Myrrhherd2009

November 2009 A busy month!!! October 31 and November 1, Myrrh competed in USBCHA Ranch herding, placing second and fifth in her classes. Then on the 14th and 15th of the month Myrrh Q'd 4 of 6 runs for NADAC Elite Jumpers, Regular, Chances and Touch N Go legs, working on Versatility NATCH2. The next weekend we were off to an AKC Herding Trial, where she finished her Herding Started B Course sheep title in the big open field with a 91.5 and 4th place, then got her first Herding Intermediate B Course sheep leg by winning the class with 88.5! On A Course (in the the arena), she earned her second HIAs leg with a second place and score of 81, then the next day finished the HIAs title, again with second place, a score of 93.5, and Reserve High in Trial!!! We finished out the month with 3 days of intense Greg and Laura Derrett agility seminars the week of Thanksgiving.

Myrrh in NADAC, and AKC herding: Fly (Myrrh's daughter) with judges Bob Ewing and Marie-Paule Gherari, Margie and Myrrh. Eight runs for the weekend, eight Q's, three titles, one High in Trial and two Reserve High in Trials between the two dogs!

January 2010 Myrrh was bred to Blazin' Bryce. Ultrasound 2/19/10 shows she is pregnant, has a belly full of pups! Estimated due date is March 20-24, 2010. See the "Sires and Foundation Dogs" page for info on Bryce.

March 4, 2010 Carol Bevan dropped by from Canada with Myrrh's daughter Split. Here's a family photo of a very pregnant Myrrh, 2 1/2 yo daughters Split and Fly, and Grandma Belle (13 yo):

March 23, 2010 In pre-labor for 5 days, pups are due, vet recommended Pitocin injections at home to induce labor. But even with the shots, she was not having contractions, and starting to show me some real stress signs. The vet said to bring her back tomorrow for IV Pitocin, but I said, "No, those puppies need to come out NOW!" so they did an emergency C-section. As they delivered the last 2 of the 9 puppies, Myrrh's heart stopped --twice! They "coded" her, and this tough little dog bounced back to life. We saved all 9 puppies, and 2 hours later I took Myrrh and all of the babies home. By 6 hours later, Myrrh was counting noses and licking butts and has been a perfect mother to the little ones! Very scary to think that if I had waited another day I likely would have lost Myrrh and all of the beautiful puppies... Here they are, 1 day old:

June 12, 2010 I entered Myrrh in a NADAC games-only trial on a whim, less than a week before the trial. I had not worked Myrrh in agility for over 6 months, was only doing herding prior to her pregnancy and the puppies. But I had entered Fly, and thought I would take Myrrh along for fun. Boy, did she have fun! Q'd 5 of 6 runs, all in Elite classes, and earned 2 Touch 'N Go, 2 Tunnelers and a Weavers leg! I think she looks pretty good, less than 2 months back from the dead, and 9 puppies successfully raised!

June 26-27, 2010, San Diego Scottish Highland Games Myrrh competed in a USBCHA sheepherding trial in the Ranch class, was 4th in the class of 12 entries on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday with a beautiful run!

October/November 2010  Myrrh and I flew to St. Louis for the Border Collie National Specialty at Purina Farms, where she earned all 3 legs for the Herding Excellent A Course-ducks title Oct 18-20! Back in Escondido the following weekend, she earned her first 2 HXA legs on sheep (1st & 4th places) and her first HXB leg on sheep (2nd place.) On Nov 20 & 21 in Perris, CA, we finished her HXAs title, and won both runs of HXAd (on geese instead of ducks!) for 4 Herding Championship points!

January 2011 Myrrh had high score in Advanced A and B sheep classes at an AKC herding trial at Terry Kenney's ranch, won a 4 point major in herding! Now she has both of the required wins with at least one "major" and just needs 7 more points for her Herding Championship... Here she is at home with our Welsh Harlequin ducks and one American Blue goose, playing "Duck, Duck, Goose"???

June 11-12, 2011 Myrrh finished her HXBs title with a decent run at Terry Kenney's ranch trial (we got the shed right off the bat!!!) and Q'd (no placement or points) in HXAs. She also got pulled off the course several times because she's getting trial-wise and has been refusing commands about midway through the course, taking over and trying to run things herself! Sorry, Myrrh, it's a team sport, and if you don't want to play by the rules, you don't get to play! I had one very surprised dog when I left the post or pen--she thought I was stuck there and could not come reprimand her!

July 23, 2011 Another 4 point major win on HXAs course at Terry Parrish's, 17 dogs in the class and we had the best run we have ever had! I guess stopping her runs has made a good impression on her... Down to 3 points needed now for the AKC Herding Championship!
