Winthrop Sedge, call name "Edge"

Check out Adriana's blog on training Edge at http://atomicdogtraining.blogspot.com/

Edge was consistently the biggest in the litter and accordingly is a HUGE resource guarder. I noticed right off when I met him so no surprises there just a big issue we have and will continue to work on, probably forever. Tonight was hilarious, he'd gone out to go potty all on his own as it was raining and me in my PJs (thank you, thank you, thank you Margie for making the housetraining go so easily) where apparently he found a piece of one of Luc's destroyed tennis balls. (I know, I know they aren't supposed to chew on them, try telling that to a ball obsessed Malinois!!) When he came inside he thought he had robbed the queens jewels and wasn't about to let anyone see. I step on his house line and saw what it was, took it from him briefly. We've been doing lots of object exchanges and though I didn't have a piece of food at the time he did reluctantly relinquish. You should have seen the look on his face when I gave it back to him! Hey, I had to reward the relinquish with something! So there's the scoop on Edge, I'm really enjoying him..

Atomic, Adriana and Edge at 12 weeks.

June 23, 2010--3 months old Right now Edge and I are concentrating on obedience. I haven't got much of a choice since I have no access to agility or herding for the time being. I'm a big fan of Chris Bach's Third Way, so I'm following her competition game plan. I noticed from the night I got him and he contemplated his reflection in the sliding glass door that he is a thinker. (He likes his reflection, looks in the mirror a lot.) I can see him working things out. He even listens to and watches Chris on the seminar DVDs that I watch, it's really cute. He learns very fast and eagerly so we're doing well.

July 23, 2010--4 months old! Hi again, Just wanted to post another update. This past weekend Edge and I attended a Lori Drouin seminar here locally. We had a great time and it was very informative. I think Edgie wowed everyone with the attention and the novice obedience skills he's already begun to accumulate. Honestly there was little that he couldn't do just as well as many of the adult dogs. Great exercises and we're gonna keep on that track seeing as how I still haven't got other dog sport options yet. ~Adriana
